Breaking Catholic News, Friday, September 13, 2024, 12:01 PM. "Pope Francis criticizes Harris and Trump positions 'against life,' rejects single-issue voting." This is fascinating...Pope Francis criticizes Harris and Trump positions "against life" AND rejects single-issue voting. In rejecting single-issue voting or one issue voting Catholics (on the Abortion Issue) he goes against the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' official position which lists Abortion as the "preeminent issue" in this current and in all elections. What are we to do? Follow Pope Francis, the Supreme Pontiff, the Vicar of Christ, the Servant of the Servants of God, or the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops?
Pope Francis' rejection of single-issue voting - consistent with his previous teaching on how Catholics should engage in politics - stands in contrast to the official position of the U.S. Bishops Conference that declares abortion to be the "preeminent priority" for Catholic voters. I will follow Pop Francis.
